10/29/2015 0 Comments When Friends Leave Sometimes things end so something better can begin! Some people are semicolons to a better tomorrow. A friend for a season may not be there tomorrow, and that's okay! Trust God with every relationship.
It took me a very long time to realize this truth. I have had people walk out of my life without a second thought and I have found myself chasing after them. It hurts to feel completely abandoned by someone you care about. God has led me to a place of completion apart from this world. If someone chooses to leave, I pray before I pursue. Most of the time God says go: mend fences, listen, care, and love; then the relationship is made whole again in Christ. Those are times of rejoicing. A relationship that requires tenacity and work can be incredibly fulfilling and worthwhile. If I am the one who has caused the hurt, real or perceived, I must reach out and humble myself to make things right. There have been a few friendships from the past that didn't, wouldn't, or couldn't be saved. At first, my broken heart would actively pursue these people and experience the degradation of rejection and ridicule. The difference between humbling one's self and humiliation is small and I stepped over that line too many times to count. This life is a journey. Some people come in it provide rest and refreshment before we complete it. They are like a comfy bed and breakfast before we reach are destination. Beautiful for a time, but not the ultimate target. We must realize this to survive or we become consumed by past. Give everything you have to everyone you meet, and trust God with the outcome. I will be the inn of comfort who need rest for a bit and for those chose to stay help me plant a garden.
