2/21/2016 0 Comments Another try towards intention Today I tried to regroup and refocus myself on intentional actions. I had moderate success. I kept a prayer in my heart throughout the morning, but succumbed to the ever present temptation of cheesy pretzels. I joyously led my Sunday School class, but watched another episode of the number one zombie show on T.V. I managed to watch Christ with one eye, and the distractions of the world with the other. I think that I have finally figured out that when I do that, I end up crossed eyed.
Every moment matters. Every thought matters. Every word matters. Being mindful in the minutia is important. I can’t focus on two things at once, none of us can. How do we keep our eyes on God when the world is vying for our attention? With intention! So tomorrow I will try a little harder and, with God’s grace, I will succeed. I will mindfully meditate on the word of God in the morning. I will prayerfully pause before I stuff something in my mouth. I will intentionally interrupt my wayward thoughts before they wander off into paranoia or stupidity. I will do better. Intentional actions take effort. Each day is a chance to do better than the day before. So I will get up tomorrow and think a little deeper, smile a little bigger, and try a little harder because life is too short to meander through without meaning or motivation. Intentional, mindful living is possible!
