Reoccurring issues don’t mean a lack of faith, it means an adjustment of attitude is necessary. Sometimes these things surface like dross that is burned off during purification that need to be purged before we can be refined to usefulness. If we continually bury the bad stuff and never deal with it, we can expect this gross stuff to resurface at alarming times. Things surface when we least expect it and can cause problems in our daily lives when we don’t process through them. Hiding from the past creates a greater opportunity for a sudden ambush from the memories that haunt your dreams. The biggest fear from your history, isn’t insurmountable. If it overtakes the present, it will stifle the future. The only way to freedom is through the fire of the past. Once you have passed through the flames, you will be cleansed. However, just like we need to brush our teeth daily to remove the bacteria that creeps in daily, we need to pray daily to remove the spiritual bacteria that creeps into our lives. The dross that floats to the surface isn’t caused by a lack of faith, but the way we handle it can dictate how our faith flows. Deal with it as it occurs and know that what arises isn’t what defines you, how you deal with is.
